January's heating bill.... lots of cash for CCKW parts!

I live in a small town that has a natural gas line running down the main street. I hooked up to natural gas (from electric) about 5 years ago, bought the boiler ($3500) and did the install myself.
My heating bill, for a 138 year old home, that in some parts has new insulation, other parts has little more than blown in cotton (I hope its cotton... my luck its asbestos or worse) and in other places no insulation and about 2500sq ft:
People I know get 400 gallons of oil ($1200+) for a month, propane is about $3/gal and some people are still on coal (a ton of coal is over $200/ton plus you have to dick with ashes).
Its 74F inside, 23F outside, and the hounds are sprawled out (well, TJ kinda doesn't sprawl anymore).
Why everyone hasn't switched to NG is beyond me. If I had oil heat I would never have mad money for truck parts.
