Internet Sales Tax.. yes, its here :(

So I buy a item off ebay. Small item, less than $20. Go to pay and it lists PA sales tax. I look and the business is NOT based in PA. I know of USE TAX but that is not collected by the seller.

Seems that BUSINESSES are required to collect sales tax on items sold from out of state TO PA starting 1 Sept 2012 (note that date! That's the OFFICIAL MUST IMPLEMENT date.) Its not for person to person sales, but businesses.

So when I get to the invoice page I request a new total, and in the notes section ask that they provide a PA SALES TAX ID. Without that that have no way to remit collected sales tax. By PA law the sales tax collection number must be publicly displayed, so its not a secret number.

We'll see what happens. Its only $1.20 in taxes.. but since its not a must have part I wanna see if they ave their ducks in a row.
