I have a Netgear WNDR3700v2 for the house... its a dual 2/5Ghz wireless router that's been decent. But since I put a laptop in the garage for looking up info and streaming radio the Netgear software fell flat on its face... there is some incompatibility with WPA2 on the guest network.. so I have to run the garage over WEP vs WPA2/AES.. not a good thing.

Just by dumb luck the router is on the list of supported units by DD-WRT... so I downloaded it and flashed the firmware. The process was flawless. After about 10 minutes of getting used to where all the settings were hidden I now have a WPA2/AES connection to my garage (about 50 yards from the house) and have noticed pages loading quicker. DD-WRT is quicker than some firmwares.. this has been tested.

So, before you buy your next wireless router you may want to get one that's on the DD-WRT hardware list... the upgrade is worth it.
