Amazed at how well the thing has lasted.

I have a parts truck. The sheet metal and bed are so rusted and shot I from sitting outside I was not very optimistic about getting many take off parts for my open cab.

So yesterday I am taking off rims to get to the brake cylinders and shoes. Mind you this is a 60+ year old truck that has sti out side for more than 20+ years.

After I got the brake drum off, other same some dust, the hub, shoes, backplate etc were almost pristine! I was amazed. The brake cylinder is in good shape, and I was also amazed at all the (different) French parts that were used in keeping it running while in French service. The cups in the brake cylinder have 'Made in France' on them, and the c-clips were come sort of weird crimp-type ring. Never saw anything like it.

I hope I can get a good, complete set of brake cylinders and shoes for rebuild, and if the rest of the running gear is in as good of condition as the brakes were some good axles, pillow blocs and suspension parts.

It was just a good day to have a CCKW yesterday. I think my jeep was jealous.
