I saw this photo in the SNL:

Note the headliner is one piece and held in with two circular clips.

From the SNL p312

So from the cab photo 'E' front retainer, 'BG' is the rear retainer, and 'A' is the headliner. No note on the two screws?

When did the full length middle retainer come into play?

CCKW hard cabs are in the same boat.. no published photos of the center retainer strip that I can find.

The SNL-G-508 DOES say they exist on page 483, BUT those are for Model 1615 ACWKX closed cabs - specifically be 'Center'

The 1574 and 1608 Closed cab section list this:

Note that it is NOT a superseded part... so it may not be a the replacement for the two circular retainers seen in the closed cab photos.

Also the headliner proper does not seem to be a supply part.

Well.. this was easy... if you have the right TMs:

TM10-1562 July, 1942

1 3665598 PANEL ASSY. - roof
1 RETAINER - headlining
4 2140091 SCREW - headlining retainer
AR 32536 PAD - roof and rear panel trim (felt paper - 36" wide)

So there is a center support retainer STRIP that superseded the two individual screw/retainers we see in photos. Also the headliner DOES has a backing of felt pad under it.. so its not just the cardboard headliner.

Yay.. I learnt something.
