Internet for the win!

I have an old but very reliable HP 2200D printer. HP rocks. Best printers EVAR. Great LINUX support and great printers.

But my 2200D was jamming when I printed duplex (which I do A LOT to save paper and make documents easy to read).

So after a google and reading exactly TWO posts I got a link to a site that had the set by step diss-assembly, repair, and assembly instructions.

The problem was a felt pad on the solenoid used to control the re-feed to duplex the page gets 'sticky' and worn down... so the arm would either stick down or the air gap was to small and would miss the gear.

So after $1.98 spent for some drawer lining (green felt with sticky backing) and about 45 minutes of work my trusty 2200D is back in service 100%.

BTW for me the best format is: duplex, 2 pages per sheet, flip up. It allows you to put the pages in the binder and you can see 4 pages at a time and it cuts paper usage by at least 50%

My other HP 1212nf (ADF for feeding in manuals that I scan) has a relatively small toner reservoir or only 1600 pages. A new HP toner is $60-70. A refill kit with a new chip is $8.

The 2200 toner cart predates the BS chip on a toner cart technology.... so I can refill it till the photo-conductor drum or doctor bar (aka wiper) fails.

I've given up on ink jets completely.
