You have to be careful, some versions of the water pumps used in the LDT/LDS engines are made from different castings. The water pump in my 66 M35a2 would not fit the 600 watt heater. The element is about 3 inches long and it was hitting part of the casting (not the impeller).

So I had to get the shorter 400watt version and it fit fine.

I am not the only person to have this issue... so if you want to gamble get the 600 watt unit... but if it hits the pump casting send it back... there is no way to modify the element without breaking the seals on the tips that protrude through the fitting.
