CARGO BED

Postby ed bennett » Sat Mar 29, 2008 7:34 am

Anyone know of a good G506 cargo bed for sale? Mine has a civilian flatbed on it. Found a nice one in Calif. but that is too far. Would like to find one located on the east coast.

I don't know where I got the silly notion that he was looking for a cargo bed, and not another truck :?

Oh yeah, he said... [quote="ed bennett"]Anyone know of a good G506 cargo bed for sale? Mine has a civilian flatbed on it. ...quote]

BTW, I seem to recall those same photos on e-bay, just last week.

The truck on craigslist would be a good starter for restoration. I just need a cargo bed. I am fairly happy with mine the way it is, but would be nice to have an original bed on it.

If that is a correct bed for a G506 $500 for it is a steal.

Owner may also part it out. Gotta ask or you'll never know.

Pfarber,

I presumed that yo knew what a g506 cargo bed looks like. This is a link to a couple of photos of my unrestored truck, and someone else's restored truck:

I think you'll see that the craigslist post is NOT an original cargo bed. If it is original, it can't possibly be anything more than the steel floor. I doubt even that is original, based on how low it is over the tires, and how the sides are cut out to fit over the tires.

No, I did not look.

GMCs have 3 separate cargo beds, this is not a variation or a time specific one?

COEs had flat beds (stake beds?) Did the Chevys? TM9-2800 (my copy at least) shows some flat beds.

Scrap is worth around $140/Ton, the body is worth $50-$60, it is not a cargo body.

Howdy
I am in Memphis and I may have a bed for sale in a month or so. I bought a replacement bed for my G506 but it is in Texas. When I get it home, I'm gonna swap my old one out with it.
If Interested, let me know
