Learned a bit about felt today.... that stuff can get expensive QUICK.
The jist: Its rated in a system of numbers starting with F. SAE F1 is the highest quality, densest fiber good for oil seals. The larger the number after the F the looser the material is.
A local place in Allentown is evidently a big deal in the felt biz... might take a trip down there and see whats up. Their web site is pretty good: http://aetnafelt.thomasnet.com/viewitem ... lend-felts?
Explains the types and what they are good for. A good reference if you need some felt and are not sure what grade you need. I've seen a lot of felt on Amazon... and the doors in the Chevy use felt in a few places.... so I will need a bit of it.
Not sure if I would try my hand at making felt seals. With the right grade and a steel rule die you should be able to make them yourself. On non-critical parts like dust seals it would be a no brainer.
