Outer hub oil seals (4) | ebay | $30.50 | $30.50 |
Since my CCKW has split axles, and I want to go through them to make sure they are good to go, this will be my CCKW Split axle rebuild thread.
I already have new outer oil seals (4 for $30 ) but the bearings kinda worried me... its not unusual for a military truck to use one off parts.. and those parts can be expensive 70 years post production.
First bearings. The bearing all seem to be readily available. Ebay lists them, but I have not tried the local FLAPS. I'm more than certain NAPA should have them, but if I could find them at Advance then I could rack up some real savings with the internet deals they constantly have.
Race | Roller | Cost (est) | Total | |
Inner | TIM-394A | TIM-395 | $10-15 | $80-120 |
Outer | TIM-382 | TIM-387 | $20-30 | $160-240 |
So it looks like the range (by ebay prices) is $250-400 for all the bearings for 2 rear split axles. Not bad... not bad at all.
What does suck is that it appears that Timken is no more... sucked up by Federal Mogul.. that means interchange lists The bright side is that *most* timken part number seem to be the same across brands. For example TIM-394A is an SKF 394-A and lists for $14-$19 retail... so they are out there.
Banjo axles will be covered in the G506 forums as that's the only truck I have with Banjos on it.
